So half of my classes right now consist of ancient history and the word parabatai came up yesterday and I honestly died because in its original context, it was used for ‘a pair of male lovers who fought together in battle’.

I dug deeper into it and filtered out any and all references to the books, and I found this article, along with this quote:

“For what lover would not choose rather to be seen by all mankind than by his beloved, either when abandoning his post or throwing away his arms? He would be ready to die a thousand deaths rather than endure this. Or who would desert his beloved or fail him in the hour of danger?”

I… I’m not sure there’s anything I could even add to this.
